Build positive digital citizens

Your child is already comfortable with technology, this usually happens before they start school, they know how to use touch screens and turn on computers, phones and iPads.  Students will learn to be positive and ethical digital citizens.  The Australian Government has a Cybersmart website where children will be introduced to Hector and his friends.  The cartoon videos play out scenario which children can relate to.

We need to be able to provide our children with the knowledge to deal with situations by:

  1. modelling good online behaviour at school and home

  2. reinforcing that we do not give out personnal information

  3. equip them with the knowledge allowing them to deal with or have the ability to come to us if there is something that makes them feel uncomfortable arises on line

  4. giving them the skills to behave safely and responsibly online

  5. teach how to find credible websites

Another theorist Piaget believed that learning should be connected to meaningful activities (Singelman & Rider, 2012).  This knowledge will be constructed from experience while we build positive digital citizens.
